The idea

Students and researchers in Nigeria are expected to check their essays, theses, proposals and manuscripts for plagiarism and AI writing before they submit. The tools that do it are usually priced in dollars and sold as subscriptions, which is a poor fit for someone who needs one report before a deadline.

Copyrader is pay as you go, in naira. You buy credits, upload a document, and one credit gets you two reports for it: an AI-detection report and a plagiarism report, both as PDFs. Files stay private and are never added to a repository.

What I built

The app is React 19 on the Next.js App Router, running on Cloudflare Workers through Vinext. Accounts use email or Google sign-in, and every input is validated with Zod.

Payments go through Paystack, Monnify or Bachs, and every purchase and scan is an entry in a credit ledger, so a balance can always be traced. Uploads (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets or text, up to 25 MB) are stored in R2, and the metadata lives in D1.

Scanning sits behind one interface with two interchangeable providers, so I can switch providers without touching the rest of the app.

Running it

An owner console shows analytics across sign-ups, payments, credits and scans. A blog is built into the same app so new articles can be published and found by search.

How I’m growing it

The pitch is short: check any document before you submit it, pay only for what you use, in naira. The blog targets the questions students actually search for, starting with what an AI-detection score means and what it does not.

Stack

TypeScript, React 19, Vinext (Next.js App Router), Cloudflare Workers, D1 (SQLite), R2, Zod and Vitest, with Paystack, Monnify and Bachs for payments and Google OAuth for sign-in.

Tell me a little about it and I’ll reply within a day. Prefer email? That works too.
